BA.ICTE is the principal credentialing and advisory body of the Chamber, established under the Charter. It appoints and accredits Trade Commissioners to represent member economies in cross-border trade facilitation, investment promotion and economic diplomacy.

Trade Commissioners carry an official mandate to facilitate bilateral and multilateral trade across the BRICS and ASEAN member economies โ spanning Malaysia, Singapore, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Fiji and beyond.

Upon appointment, commissioners receive a Certificate of Appointment, a Letter of Appointment on official letterhead, a unique Membership ID, and authorisation to carry the official BA.ICTE seal.

Approved commissioners receive their Certificate, Letter of Appointment, Membership ID and full onboarding into the network.
Appointment is open to business owners, company directors, professionals and senior executives actively engaged in or pursuing cross-border trade across ASEAN, South Asia or BRICS partner markets. Full membership is by annual subscription and subject to Secretariat review.
How is the Trade Commissioner appointment different from regular membership?+
Trade Commissioner status under BA.ICTE carries formal credentialing โ a Certificate of Appointment, the "Hon." title, an authorised seal and a unique Membership ID. It is designed for professionals who actively represent the chamber in trade facilitation, diplomatic engagement and bilateral business development, and requires Advisory Board endorsement.
Which markets does the appointment cover?+
Primary markets are Malaysia, Singapore, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Fiji and Australia. Through the BRICS network the appointment also facilitates engagement with China, Russia, Brazil, South Africa, the UAE and other emerging-market economies.
How quickly will the Secretariat respond?+
The Secretariat aims to respond to all applications within two business days. For urgent matters or fast-track applications, please call during business hours.
Can international applicants (outside Malaysia) apply?+
Yes. Applicants headquartered across ASEAN and BRICS partner countries are welcome. International applicants are appointed as Associate Members where they bring regional industry expertise, or as Full Members if actively operating in the Malaysian or Southeast Asian market.
